Butyl Sealant

Insulating Glass Hot Melt Butyl Sealant is a single-component, solvent-free, low-density sealant based on polyisobutylene, designed for use as the primary sealant in insulating glass units. It is suitable for curtain wall insulating glass and insulating glass. Due to its excellent UV resistance, good air tightness, and extremely low water vapor permeability, it works in conjunction with other elastic sealants (such as polysulfide or silicone) as a secondary sealant to form a superior barrier against water vapor and inert gas exchange, ensuring the longevity of the insulating glass.

Key Technical Indicators

  1. Specific Gravity : 1.05 ± 0.05 g/cm³
  2. Color : Black
  3. Solid Content : 100%
  4. Extrusion Temperature : 125°C – 150°C

Special Notes

  1. This product is a thermoplastic material. In winter or lower temperatures, special care should be taken to minimize the time between applying this product to the spacer frame and assembling the insulating glass to ensure good initial adhesion to the glass.
  2. This product may not be compatible with certain silicone sealants (such as silicone sealants for insulating glass secondary seals, door and window sealants, and various curtain wall joint sealants). Compatibility testing is recommended before use.
  3. Must be applied using specialized insulating glass extrusion equipment. The recommended application temperature range is 120°C – 135°C.
  4. The construction environment should be no lower than 5°C.

Packaging

  1. The product is packaged with non-adhesive separating paper, in rigid paper barrels, and the outer packaging is in cardboard boxes with a certificate of conformity attached. Diameter can be customized according to user requirements.

Storage and Transportation

  1. Store in a cool, dry place with a shelf life of two years. This product is non-hazardous and can be transported using any standard transport means.
